Closure for Colleen
by Linda Potter

Colleen’s agenda for her past life regression didn’t include visiting with her beloved collie that had recently passed over.  In fact, upon our initial discussion, Colleen was not aware that during the course of her hypnosis session it was even possible to do such a thing.

Colleen wanted to get past life information regarding a personal relationship she was struggling with, her upcoming career choices and the depression she had been dealing with ever since the death of her collie.

Now, for some people, the death of an animal isn’t such a big deal.  They wonder how someone could go into depression for this reason.  On the other side of that coin, there are plenty of us that do understand the incredible emotional impact the loss of an animal can bring.

In discussing the last day her dog Cleo was alive, Colleen tearfully explained how she always rewarded Cleo with a little piece of cheese during the course of the day.  But, on this particular day, Colleen held back the cheese because she sensed that Cleo wasn’t feeling well.  Cleo hadn’t been eating normally the past week, and was sleeping much more than usual.  Colleen was so concerned about her dog that she made an appointment to bring Cleo to the veterinarian that very same day.

As it turned out, Cleo didn’t live past nightfall.  The veterinarian said Cleo had an intestinal obstruction that took her life before they could do anything about it. Colleen was devastated.

When Colleen walked into the regression room, it had been 6 months since the passing of her dog and she felt the incredible loss still.  She said that there was no closure because she didn’t get to say goodbye to her “best friend”.  With tears running down her cheeks, she made the comment that she should have given Cleo the cheese anyway, as Colleen knew how much she loved that particular treat.  As so many of us do, Colleen went over and over in her head as to what she should have done differently the last day of Cleo’s life.

Colleen cruised through her regression, attaining the desired knowledge regarding her personal issue and her career path.  Now it was time to gain the closure, long overdue, regarding the loss of her dog Cleo.

Continuing in her hypnotic state, Colleen was told to bring Cleo to mind as she visualized herself sitting in the garden on a chair made of wicker. “The Garden” is a place on the Other Side that is more wonderful than words can articulate and this garden is where many reunite with their animals that have passed over. This was the case for Colleen and Cleo.

Colleen remarked how the grass was greener than she could remember grass being. The flowers that surrounded the edges of the grass were vibrant in their colors of purples, yellows and pinks.  And then, just as a strong steady wind fills the sails of a ship, Colleen experienced the rush of emotion as she was joined with Cleo in the garden.

Cleo came bounding through the grass to Colleen’s side, jumping up on her lap, licking her face with love that could never die.

Through Colleen’s tears of joy, she asked if she could stay with Cleo awhile and of course she did.  Colleen told Cleo how sorry she was that she didn’t take her to the veterinarian sooner and Cleo told Colleen that she left this life on earth when she was supposed to.  She left how and when she chose to leave and that Colleen shouldn’t have any misgivings about it at all.  Then Colleen said how guilty she felt for not giving Cleo the cheese that day and Cleo said, “Forget about the cheese!”  Colleen began to laugh at that point and the relief from the guilt that she harbored for so many months dissipated right then and there.

After her session, the relief in Colleen’s face spoke volumes.  She said that if someone told her she could communicate with her deceased dog and gain closure like she just experienced, she wouldn’t have believed it.  She wasn’t sure she would ever be able to explain how Cleo had licked her face and “spoke” to her.  Then she stated that it didn’t really matter what other people believed.  All she knew was that she felt like someone just lifted 100 pounds off her shoulders.  The guilt was gone.

Colleen’s experience left her with closure she never thought she would attain in this life.  In fact, it left her with knowledge that her beloved Cleo still exists and is happy and healthy and residing in a place that is nothing short of extraordinary.
