Getting to Know your Spirit Guides
To have a friend who loves us unconditionally, never gets angry, holds us in times of sorrow, celebrates along with us in times of joy, and stands by our side—always—would be quite a friend indeed. These are the traits of our spirit guides. Often we have shared lifetimes together, but we always know each other from the Other Side and trust each other implicitly.
A spirit guide is someone who has taken on the responsibility to guide us during our life on earth, to keep us on track. The relationship of the guide and the person in life is one of mutual respect and great love, and it’s a commitment that they both take very seriously. Spirit guides choose to experience life along with us, gaining knowledge for themselves throughout our journey.
While in life, the negativity of the world can lead us off our chosen path. This is called “lateral movement,” meaning that we have the ability to take either the path of obstacles or one of ease. The choice is ours. The job of our spirit guide is to infuse us with the knowledge we need to follow our path.
Have you ever had a gut or intuitive feeling and you didn’t quite know where it came from? That’s your spirit guide infusing you. Maybe you felt that you needed to check on your kids, and when you did, you found that they were playing too close to the street. Or perhaps you had a strong feeling to call your sister, and when you did, you found that she was depressed and needed to talk to you. As you become more aware, you’ll see examples like this every day and begin to make a stronger connection with your spirit guide.
During a guided meditation, you can meet your spirit guide. This meditation is a state of deep relaxation that allows you to connect with your spirit guide and others. As you relax, you’ll find it easier to hear your guide’s infusion. During this experience, you have the opportunity to listen to their infusion and telepathically speak with them. A thought in your mind going toward them is telepathically speaking.
Many people believe that when you hear your guide, it will be an audible message. In reality, however, very few people hear their guide in this way. It’s more often experienced as an infusion which is simply thoughts coming into your mind.
For many people, a guided meditation is the first conscious connection with their spirit guide. It’s an awakening that opens a beautiful window and enhances the connection to the Other Side of this life.
